THREE-PRONGED 2011 SUPER PLAN

by Ian Jay on January 1, 2011 at 11:48 pm
Posted In: News

First off, a super-special belated holiday sketch drawn by yours truly on December 24:

HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM IAN JAY SUPER COMIX

Secondly, MY OFFICIAL 2011 RESOLUTION IS THREE PRONGED. LIKE A FORK. A DEFECTIVE FORK.

PRONG ONE is to put out at least one page of Epiphany every week, or at least not go on stupid-long hiatuses because of school. I dislike long breaks in the story as much the rest of my readers do— it’s annoying and unprofessional.

PRONG TWO is to better my web presence, mostly by setting up my (currently empty) Facebook fan page, getting a new (easier to spell) Deviant Art account, and further tweaking and gussying up my own website so that it’s a hub of its own instead of something I always have to link people to.

PRONG THREE is to have something published somewhere by the end of the year. Not self-published, either. That would be too easy. This also includes the sub-prongs “shop more comic pitches around to publishers” and “search for viable jobs within the industry, as well as in other creative areas like maybe tattoo design”.

WILL I BE MET WITH SUCCESS? I had better, because it’s my first year in the “REAL WORLD”, as they say. I don’t want to screw it up and start out on the rest of my life on the wrong foot.

ANYWAYS, HAPPY 2011 AND STAY TUNED, TRUE BELIEVERS.

Scott Pilgrim Vs. DEVIANT ART

by Ian Jay on September 1, 2010 at 9:02 pm
Posted In: News

Hey, guys! Recently DA put up this contest in conjunction with the Scott Pilgrim movie where people could design Ramona’s “Eighth Evil Ex”. Me and my friend Adri Tibbs decided to team up and make a comic entry for it! Ours is called “Scott Pilgrim Vs. A Horse”, and you can read it by clicking the link below. I did the writing and she did the artwork.

Grand prize is a thousand dollars, a skateboard deck, and some other stuff. Here’s to hoping we win! (Also here’s to hoping O’Malley or someone at Oni actually notices us!)

Hey, guys, sorry it took so long to start this dang thing back up again! I like the idea of keeping a big bucket of my process sketches public, so let’s fire this sucker up again.

First off, here are a couple pages of pointy animals I drew the other day:

I like the shark guy the best, I think. He would make an awesome puppet.
